GUCCI MANE SENTENCED TO 12 MONTHS IN JAIL
Gucci Mane was sentenced to 12 months in jail on Thursday (November 12) for probation violation and taken away in handcuffs, according to his lawyer.
Mane pleaded guilty to assault in 2005 for attacking a nightclub promoter, and last September, he was sentenced to a year in jail for failing to fulfill his court-ordered 600 hours of community service in that case. He went to jail and served until March. Upon his release, Gucci went straight to the studio and recorded five songs.
The sentence is a blow to Gucci's career. The ATL rapper has an album coming out — The State vs. Radric Davis — on December 8 and is arguably at the height of his career; in terms of his sentence, he may be out of jail in six months.

GERMAN GOALIE ROBERT ENKE COMMITS SUICIDE
Robert Enke was an understated presence in net as the goalkeeper for Germany’s national team and most recently for the Bundesliga squad Hannover 96, and reportedly a reserved, likable man off the field. But after the 32-year-old goalie committed suicide Tuesday, many fans and former teammates are still wondering how well they knew Enke, who had been treated for depression since 2003 and lost his two-year-old daughter to a rare heart disorder in 2006. As is usually the case in these situations, no explanation quite makes sense.

That's what the new song, "They All Come Down," is all about. An honest take on "celebrities" and their falls from grace. Not your typical hip hop subject matter and that's why I'll be bumping it. -Trav"

KURT COBAIN
(CONTENT FROM WIKIPEDIA.COM) Kurt Donald Cobain (February 20, 1967 – c. April 5, 1994) was an American musician, best known as the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter of the rock band Nirvana.
With the lead single "Smells Like Teen Spirit" from Nirvana's second album Nevermind (1991), Nirvana entered into the mainstream, popularizing a subgenre of alternative rock called grunge. Other Seattle grunge bands such as Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, and Soundgarden also gained wider audiences, and as a result, alternative rock became a dominant genre on radio and music television in the United States during the early-to-middle 1990s. Nirvana became the "flagship band" of "Generation X," and Cobain, as its frontman, found himself anointed by the media as the generation's "spokesman." Cobain was uncomfortable with the attention and placed his focus on the band's music, believing the band's message and artistic vision to have been misinterpreted by the public, challenging the band's audience with its third studio album In Utero (1993).
During the last years of his life, Cobain struggled with drug addiction as well as the professional and personal pressures surrounding himself and his wife, musician Courtney Love. On April 8, 1994, Cobain was found dead at his home in Seattle, the victim of what was officially ruled a suicide by a self-inflicted shotgun wound to the head. The circumstances of his death have become a topic of fascination and debate. Since their debut, Nirvana, with Cobain as a songwriter, sold over twenty-five million albums in the US alone, and over fifty million worldwide.[3][4]

FEDERAL TRIAL LOOMS IN $3.2 BILLION PONZI SCHEME
BY: STEVE KARNOWSKI
Until the Bernard Madoff scandal broke, it was a Minnesota businessman who stood accused of orchestrating the largest Ponzi scheme authorities could ever recall.
Tom Petters, 52, who seemed to have a golden touch as he built a small merchandise liquidation company into a diversified empire that owned well-known businesses such as Polaroid, goes on trial this week. The size of his alleged fraud: $3.65 billion.
Petters' world began to unravel a year ago when his trusted lieutenant, Deanna Coleman, walked into the U.S. attorney's office with what prosecutors called a "staggering" allegation.
Coleman said for more than 10 years she had helped Petters run a multibillion dollar Ponzi scheme. She said they fabricated documents to trick investors into loaning money that Petters would claim to use to buy TVs and other electronic goods that he would purport to resell to big retailers like Costco and Sam's Club. Those goods never existed, prosecutors claim, saying most of the money really went to finance Petters' lifestyle and to pay off other investors.
Petters is charged with 20 counts, including wire fraud, mail fraud, money laundering and conspiracy, which could imprison him for life. He maintains his innocence, and remains jailed. The trial is expected to take about six weeks, with jury selection starting Wednesday.
Coleman and six other alleged conspirators reached plea agreements, and most have cooperated with investigators.

JIM MORRISON
Birth: Dec. 8, 1943
Death: Jul. 3, 1971
"I like ideas about the breaking away or overthrowing the established order. I am interested in anything about revolt, disorder, chaos, especially activity that seems to have no meaning. It seems to me to be the road towards freedom- external revolt is a way to bring about internal freedom."
Singer, Songwriter. Born in Melbourne, Florida, the son of a naval officer, he adopted a bohemian lifestyle in California while attending UCLA while literally homeless, sleeping in any convenient place handy, friends couches, rooftops, in cars and under the pier at Venice Beach. A voracious reader of books, he started a rock band with fellow student Ray Manzarek after he graduated. They quickly found two more members, Robby Krieger and John Densmore. Dubbed with the name "The Doors" it quickly found fame in the Rock and Roll music world with their music constantly topping the music charts. Jim Morrison developed a unique singing voice and became the lead singer of the group. His life style leaned on mysticism while engaging in drugs, alcohol and bizarre behavior leading to many legal confrontations with the law. He grew tired of his fame and sought anonymity in Paris with his long time girlfriend Pamela Courson. They lived in various expensive hotels while taking in the usual tourist hangouts. His health was already in decline and he was excessively overweight. While in a bath tub, he was found dead at the age of twenty seven. He had been under treatment by a Paris physician who mercifully stated the cause of death as heart failure thus avoiding an autopsy. His death was kept secret leading to a conspiracy theory of a faked death. A Paris funeral service took charge and Jim Morrison was placed in a standard simple french veneered coffin and a direct burial was completed at the Famous Le Pere Lachaise Cemetery in eastern Paris. The grave unmarked for many years became much to the chagrin of cemetery officials a number one Paris tourist destination.

EARL " THE GOAT" MANIGAULT
Called "the king of his own generation of ballplayers, [and] the idol for the generation that followed" by Pete Axthelm in The City Game, Earl Manigault never realized his incredible potential as a basketball player because he succumbed to the lure of drugs in the Harlem neighborhood of his youth. He brought the fans to their feet in legendary one-and-one competitions in New York City playgrounds against future professional stars such as Connie Hawkins and Lew Alcindor (later known as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). In the New York Times, Abdul-Jabbar referred to Manigault as "the best basketball player his size in the history of New York City," and many other professional players who have witnessed Manigault in action have also sung his praises. "I let thousands of people down," Manigault admitted to the New York Times. "But I'm nothing phony. And there was a time when I gave the people what they wanted."

U.S CHARGES BILLIONAIRE WITH RECORD INSIDER TRADING
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Billionaire hedge fund founder Raj Rajaratnam and executives from some of the most prestigious U.S. companies were charged on Friday with the largest hedge fund insider-trading scheme ever.
Investigators said they used court-approved telephone wire taps for the first time in a Wall Street insider trading case, sending shivers through the hedge fund industry which has traditionally picked up and shared trading tips to make big profits.
At the center of the case are Rajaratnam, his Galleon hedge fund and two executives from hedge fund New Castle, which was a unit of Bear Stearns Asset Management before Bears Stearns Cos collapsed in 2008, but is still in operation.
Three executives from major American companies IBM, top consulting firm McKinsey & Co and the venture capital arm of chip giant Intel Corp are also facing criminal charges.
"This is not a garden-variety insider trading case," Preet Bharara, the U.S. Attorney for Manhattan, said at a news conference. He said the scheme made more than $20 million in illegal profits over several years.

COMPLEX: 10 RAPPERS WE WISH WEREN'T IN PRISON
Well, it’s official: T.I. reported to the judge today to plead guilty to his weapons charges, and got formally sentenced to a year and a day (which could well end up being less when time served on house arrest gets taken into consideration). Clifford gets to voluntarily head to jail sometime after May 19, which gives him a couple of months extra to finish making the world a better place.
Needless to say, we’re making sad-face emoticons over here at Complex; not only is the civilian population losing one of the South’s finest lyricists and a genuinely smart and likable dude, but it’s just one more objectively great emcee who gets chalked into the “Incarcerated” category. There’s more than 20 rappers locked up right now, but since we don’t really fux with shermhead cannibals, we had to narrow it down to our 10 favorite (including Tip). For a look at the other nine, read on…

SOUTH CAROLINA GOVERNOR SANFORD ADMITS TO AFFAIR
Gov. Mark Sanford admitted Wednesday to an extramarital affair with a woman living in Argentina and to lying to South Carolinians to cover up his tryst — then asked everyone, including his family, for forgiveness.
The two-term S.C. Republican, a rising GOP star, fought tears during a news conference hours after a reporter from The State newspaper surprised him at the Atlanta airport on his way back from seeing the mother of two during Father’s Day weekend.
Sanford did not respond in the State House rotunda when asked whether he would resign his office. Spokesman Joel Sawyer later said the governor had no plans to step down.

HIGH AND TIGHT THE RISE AND FALL OF DARRYL STRAWBERRY &DWIGHT GOODEN
"All that was left now was to blow his brains out and hope the life insurance policy would take care of his family," says Bergen Record sportswriter Bob Klapisch on ESPN Classic's SportsCentury series.
CONTENT BELOW TAKEN FROM: TIME MAGAZINE FEATURE "THE TOP 10 ATHLETE DRUG BUSTS"
They were rare talents, and they knew it. In 1985 — only his second season in the majors — Dwight Gooden posted one of the best pitching campaigns in history, amassing 24 wins, a minuscule 1.53 ERA and 268 strikeouts. His 23-year-old teammate Darryl Strawberry jacked 29 home runs and was touted as a future Hall of Famer. (Asked several years ago how he stacked up against a new Mets phenom, Strawberry replied, "Are you kidding me? I was awesome.") The following season, the duo led the Mets to what the Shea faithful hoped would be the first of many world championships.
Yet both saw their careers derailed by drugs. Gooden opened the 1987 season in a substance-abuse center and was banned from the league during the 1995 season after twice testing positive for cocaine. Strawberry's career did not fare much better; it was pockmarked by crack and cocaine usage, prostitute solicitation and domestic violence.
